DAS ESSZIMMER – space for art+, Bonn
23-09-2021/16-12-2021
In Sprinkle never-in-a-rush Essence, the work of Jolijn van den Heuvel and Bas de Weerd meet in stillness, in slowing down and in the poetic everyday experiences. In different media, both artists search for subtle image structures that show this sense of slowing down: in photography, ceramics, paintings, and video.

The video shows the careful instalment of a semi-translucent sticker on a window. Highlighting the ephemeral moment between public and private. Where the two people seek privacy, your gaze is drawn to the movements of pushing palms and feeling fingertips.

We live in a period without a clear timeframe, a period fragmented into different timelines that now and then, without any regularity, intersect our shared space. This multitude of competing and overlapping temporalities can be found in individual works of art as well as in the world as a whole. Call it a frictional field of competing forces. But how do we navigate in such a world? How do we find a way? How can we envision a future? (lees meer / dutch only)

I remember the wishbone as a common object that was present in my parental household. For example, after boning the turkey, I was allowed to break the wishbone to see who was left with the longest piece. To then make a wish.
